In the Disney+ series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew the kids (and others) are constantly regaled by their companion droid SM-33 about the “pirate code.”

I assume this is the classic, “honor among thieves” trope, but does anyone know if the pirate code in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew differs significantly from the pirate code in the real world: “[…] code of conduct for governing ships of pirates, notably between the 17th and 18th centuries, during the so-called ‘Golden Age of Piracy.’”

Looking for an in universe explanation; canon or Legends references welcome.

The first rule of the Pirate Code is you talk constantly about the Pirate Code. Commented Jan 14 at 10:42

My first instinct is that it's probably nothing more than a sly wink to another Disney franchise, and not something they've put any actual thought into in terms of canonicity (I note that SM-33's name is likely a reference to another Disney work involving pirates). Commented Jan 14 at 16:16
