I have a Ledger Nano S and was using it to access my Monero with Monero GUI. It was working no problem. Due to space I had to uninstall the Monero app on my Ledger. When I re-installed the Monero app on the Ledger Nano S I also updated the Monero GUI to the newest version. I have been unable to see my Monero on Monero GUI ever since these 2 changes.

I do not know if the Wallet NAME is important or not but wrote it down as Rodney_1.

I tried Create New Wallet From Hardware. I'm unsure of what Index?? to use??

I'm unfamiliar with the exact procedure to "see" the Monero.

I have tried using different Wallet names and the same wallet name... not sure if that matters.

I have been told that since I have my 24 word seed phrase that the funds are still there. Ledger said they are soon going to NOT support my Ledger Nano S device so I purchased a new Ledger Nano S Plus. I recovered my 24 word seed phrase to the new Ledger Nano S Plus and installed the Monero app on it.

I tried to "Create New Wallet From Hardware" then selected the new Ledger Nano S Plus to Export the key to Monero GUI using Advanced Mode and a restore height of 1 so that it would not miss any transactions.

Still can't "See" any Monero in the account.

Please assist. Thank you!!

I can now “see” my Monero on Monero GUI.

This is how I had to do it…

I had to restore the .keys files from a backup that I (thankfully) performed about 6 months ago on my Desktop Windows Computer.

Once I copied that back into the Monero wallet folder I was able to open that wallet, search for those keys and see my XMR again.

It is concerning that had I not had a copy of these keys that I would never be able to see my coins again because I tried all of the troubleshooting recommended to me by Ledger Support… even restoring my 24 phrase onto a new Ledger Nano S Plus that I purchased.

So for now I am okay, but am TERRIFIED of something like this happening again.

I love my Ledger devices for all (completely) supported coins, but for coins requiring 3rd party software like XMR I'll be sticking to online wallets.
