Help with Stuck Repository Import

I'm having trouble importing a private repository into an organization. It has been stuck on the message "Your import will begin shortly" for over an hour now. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this issue or suggestions on how to resolve it? I don't even get the option to cancel it, so I can see the repo in the organization, but once I access it I just see a loading screen.

This issue might be caused by the current GitHub outage: https://www.githubstatus.com/

Once the outage clears, if you still have this issue, I would try doing this: try clearing your browser cache by running Ctrl + Shift + R or Cmd + Shift + R on Mac to clear your cache. If that doesn't work, try opening the repository in a private or incognito window or a different browser.

If those don't work, disable any AdBlockers you might have or extensions that could be interfering.

Posting some additional solutions for Stuck Import

Debugging Steps

• Contact GitHub Support - Stuck imports often need admin intervention to clear
• Delete and restart - Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Repository, then re-import
• Manual migration - Clone original repo locally, push to new GitHub repo

For Large Repos

• Use Git LFS for files over 100MB
• Import during off-peak hours for better success rates
