Waltz for Cat
For Waltz for Cat, I wanted to write a waltz in a style similar to that of Chopin. Once the piece was done, my friend and I snuck into the Musik-Akademie in Basel to record this. Through some miracle, I played through everything more-or-less correctly first try, which we were very hyped about.
Take a Break, Come Back
In a lot of music, the point is building up to some kind of climax. In this piece, I do the opposite — the core idea of the piece is deconstructed more and more until barely anything remains. The strings offer some melodic support, and I think the interplay between the strings and the piano adds a lot to the piece. I wrote this piece in almost one sitting on New Year's Eve. I think the VST strings don't sound great, and I've been meaning to re-record this on real string instruments.
Waltz for Cat, Bedtime Version
The original Waltz for Cat is for piano, but its soft and melancholic nature makes it a great fit for the celeste, which is what I arranged it for in this “Bedtime Version”.
